Meta Ads is the current official name for advertising across Meta's platforms — Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and the Audience Network. Facebook Ads was the old name. The platform and ad manager are the same thing; only the branding changed.

It works well for e-commerce with a product catalogue and some conversion history. For lead generation or brand awareness with tighter audience control, manual campaigns often outperform it — especially with smaller budgets.
The Meta algorithm needs roughly 50 conversions per ad set to exit the learning phase. At a typical budget that's 2–4 weeks. Expect the first week to be exploratory, weeks two and three to optimise, and stable results by week four or five.
